Golf Sluispolder
Slouse polder: 1 golf course, 18 holes. Behind the dunes, between Bergen This magnificent 18-hole course is located in Alkmaar. It's an interesting course, richly dotted with bunkers and water features, which add an extra handicap to many holes. Due to its location near the coast, the almost constant wind is also a determining factor in the game. The interplay of these elements ensures that the course, with its spacious greens and wide fairways, remains a challenge for the experienced player.
Construction of the first nine holes began in 1982. Under the direction of renowned golf course architect Joan Dudok van Heel, holes 10 through 18 were opened in 1983. The holes may seem simple at first, but the long par 3 and the (visual) narrowing on these holes can sometimes be quite challenging. The final hole is a beautiful one to finish with. It features an interesting dogleg, requiring the second shot to be taken over a water feature, ultimately landing on a split-level green right in front of the terrace.
Holes 1 through 9 were constructed in 1991 under the supervision of golf course architect Alan Rijks. These holes are situated on slightly undulating terrain, the undulating foothills of the old dune landscape. This dune layer has been pushed up in places amidst the clay polder, making the landscape very interesting. Here, the often-present strong southwesterly wind sometimes plays partner, sometimes strikingly opposing.
Both loops offer stunning views of a true North Holland landscape, grazing cows, the mighty Schoorl dunes in the distance, and windmills turning. Don't forget to enjoy the beautiful surroundings alongside your round. If you're looking to improve your short game, the 9-hole par-3 course is an excellent choice. This short but challenging Alan Rijks course requires precision for the advanced player. It's an excellent way to practice your short game and offers beginners a pleasant introduction to golf.
